ONKYO TA-2070/TA-9X (1981)

 

The TA-2070 from Onkyo was a top specification model introduced in 1981. It features a 3-motor mechanism with Direct Drive capstan motor in a dual capstan configuration and a 3-head construction with Sendust recording and playback heads. For optimal recordings the deck is equipped with auto-bias adjustment called by Onkyo Accubias. The TA-2070 also features a real time tape counter. For maximum accuracy this system is using sensors at both the supply and take-up reel providing accurate readings even when the inserted tape is not at the beginning. The original model was introduced in Japan as TA-9X while the international version was the TA-2070.
