Technics SL-P777 (1988) | Linear 18-bit 4DAC

Technics SL-P777 (1988) | Linear 18-bit 4DAC

Brand: Technics
Model: SL-P777
Year: 1988

The Technics SL-P777 utilize a 4DAC linear 18-bit system for the D/A converter. This circuit employs a 4 DAC configuration in which a D/A converter for the positive signal and a D/A converter for the negative signal are mounted on each of Lch and Rch. Each component is individually D/A converted and synthesized by a newly developed 4 dac control LSI, eliminating the generation of 0 cross distortion in principle. In addition, the S/N ratio of 112 dB or more is ensured by canceling out common-mode noise, greatly improving the reproducibility of small signals. The digital filter that removes unwanted high-frequency components from the input signal from the CD employs a high-precision four times oversampling digital filter, which provides twice the time resolution of the conventional 16-bit two times oversampling output waveform. It is equipped with an 8-sample linear interpolation circuit. When a data error occurs due to scratches or dirt on the disk signal surface, if the number of data errors is up to 8 in succession, the signal does not shift to the previous value hold and the linear interpolation prevents noise generation. A class-AA system, unique to Technics, is adopted for the buffer amplifier and headphone amplifier. High-quality audio parts are used to further improve sound quality. The Edit Guide function automatically calculates and displays on the display the number of songs, number of songs and remaining time that can be recorded on the A side and B side of a tape by simply selecting the length of the tape to be used (90 minutes, 60 minutes or 46 minutes). It is equipped with an auto-peak search function that automatically detects the peak level of all songs on the disc or program songs, and then repeats playback for approximately 3 seconds before and after the peak point, for a total of approximately 6 seconds. This function allows you to easily set the recording level at the deck. Equipped with shuttle search, it is possible to search from 1/8 times speed to 76 times speed by the angle of the dial in 4 stages each in forward and reverse directions. A wireless remote control is also included.

MITSUBISHI LT-5V (1979) | Linear Tracking & Vertical

Brand: MITSUBISHI
Model: LT-5V
Year: 1979

The LT-5V from Mitsubishi (Diatone in Japan) is a vertical record player with linear tonearm. Thanks to its vertical design, the LT-5V only needs a depth of 20 cm. It fits into almost any shelf, cupboard, narrow console or window sill. Since it is operated exclusively from the front, the device can be placed at eye level. The black disc finds a particularly secure position on the LT-5V platter: A stable, hinged bracket holds it on the central axis. With light pressure, the holder snaps into place and fixes the disc in the center. The technology: Belt drive, two turntable bearings and internal flywheel for weight compensation guarantee minimal wear and low-vibration, stable synchronization over a long period of time. The vertically suspended, tangentially guided tone arm makes no tracking errors. A motor guides the tone arm over the record with opto-electronic control and 0.1 degree accuracy. A second motor takes over the vertical movement, raising and lowering the arm.

DUAL CD 110 (1982) | Compact Disc...Digital Audio

DUAL CD 110 (1982) | Compact Disc...Digital Audio

In 1982 DUAL presented with great detail (in a dedicated brochure) the CD 110 Compact Disc player. There are several aspects of this model worth to mention. The CD 110 was based on the Philips CD 100 (a 14-bit 4-fold oversampling model) but the Dual brochure is presenting-it as a 16-bit model. While the CD player features the official Compact Disc Digital Audio logo the brochure shows a pre-standardization Philips Compact Disc (without the Digital Audio text) from 1977. In conclusion this model was never mass produced, Dual opting for rebadged Hitachi CD players as their first models.

Victor QL-Y66F (1986) | Quartz Direct Drive

Brand: Victor/JVC
Model: QL-Y66F
Year: 1985

This is a full-auto player of purest sound quality. An Electro Dynamic servo arm is used for the tone arm. The ED servo tone arm is an electronic Q damping arm that detects vibration of the arm by two pairs of coreless linear motors directly connected to horizontal and vertical bearings, and cancels the vibration by generating inverse torque by feedback control of a microcomputer. This suppresses needle skipping and intermodulation distortion induced by low frequency resonance. In addition, full automatic operation is possible without touching the arm with button operation. In addition, manual operation is also supported and the arm can be moved by hand. The cabinet uses a rose-like all-wood cabinet with mirror finish. The servo circuit uses a double-servo quartz circuit with 30 times higher quartz lock stability than conventional ones.

SHARP SD-G7 (1990) | Active Servo Technology & DAT

Active Servo Technology & DAT

The SD-G7 is a unique mini Hi-Fi component system from Sharp introduced in 1991, a next generation combo. Compact size component with both DAT and CD and by utilizing Sharp's original small DAT mechanism, LS, and high-density double-sided mounting technology for a four-layer board, the unit is as small as 215mm wide and 304mm high. This is a two-piece system with one components housing the DAT/CD while the other the amplifier/tuner/cassette unit, allowing for free layout. Place it on a bookshelf or bedside table and enjoy digital sound the way you want. Easy and clear recording from CD to DAT/cassette with 3 modes of direct editing. Equipped with a direct dubbing function that allows one-touch recording from CD to DAT, CD to cassette, and DAT to cassette tape. The combo has a variety of linked play possibilities, such as a "Sync Start ID" function that allows you to match the track numbers on the CD and the DAT, and automatically writes an end ID when CD recording is complete. There is also an auto restart function that, when recording from a DAT to a cassette tape, will return to the beginning of the track that was being played at the time and start editing again when the cassette tape switches from side A to side B. DAT's functionality is also one of its major features. For example, when digitally recording from satellite broadcasting, the auto start ID function detects non-signal sections and automatically writes track numbers, making it easy to select tracks after recording. There are also repeat check functions that allow you to add or change the position of the start ID after recording, renumbering functions that automatically rearrange track numbers even if you start recording again from the middle of a recorded tape, and a narration function that allows you to add a narration to a track after recording from satellite broadcasting.

Also incorporated is the Active servo technology that produces powerful bass from small speakers. Sharp has jointly developed Active Servo Technology with Yamaha Corporation, which produces richer, deep bass sounds from a small speaker. The combination of the Helmholtz resonator principle and negative impedance drive circuit technology has made it possible to reproduce powerful deep bass sounds. The "air woofer" uses the air in the port on the front of the speaker as a diaphragm, so there is no limit to amplitude like with conventional speakers, and the amplitude is not reduced, so even though it is a small speaker, it has the same sound quality as a large speaker. To fully utilize the benefits of Active Servo Technology, the woofer uses a high-stroke, highly rigid mica-reinforced olefin diaphragm. The tweeter is a 2.5cm dome type that reproduces detailed high frequencies clearly. It reproduces the high-quality sound of DAT and CD in a realistic manner. A high-performance digital amplifier that accepts optical digital input and also has an electronic equalizer. Equipped with optical digital input and coaxial type digital input terminals, it is compatible with digital sources that are indispensable for AV life, as well as satellite broadcasting A mode (32KHz)/B mode (48KHz). The maximum practical output is 130W (65W+65W). It also has a built-in Dynamic X-BASS circuit that enhances the dynamism of the bass with high power. The included multi-function remote control allows you to control the power ON/OFF, volume, graphic equalizer, surround, dynamic X-BASS, direct selection, and most other functions including DAT, CD, tuner, amplifier, and cassette.
