KENWOOD KX-1100G (1985) - Superb Recording and Playback Performance

cassette deck

With the introduction of the KENWOOD KX-880, a very successfull line of cassette decks was born. In 1985 as a further development of the 2 head KX-880, KENWOOD introduced the KX-1100G. This is a 3-Head Dual-Capstan cassette deck with Dolby B and C noise reduction circuits, built around a very good Direct Drive 3-motor mechanism sourced from Sankyo.  A so called Super Twin Loop Linear Exciter recording head amplifier was used together with a low-impedance large-core Amorphous Alloy recording head. The closed-loop dual capstan system features a so called Magnetic Thrust Absorber while the whole deck features a high-rigidity structure. Best recordings can be achieved with the use of bias and recording level calibration with oscillators and separate L/R controls. Recording levels are controlled by a Master and L/R preset level controls while the recording level is displayed on a vertical fluorescent peak-hold meter. In 1988 was introduced the KX-1100HX model with added Dolby HX-Pro circuit.

Bang&Olufsen Beomaster 8000 - Designed by Jakob Jensen

hifi receiver

The Beomaster 8000 was introduced in 1980 and it was the most powerful receiver ever produced by Bang&Olufsen. This classic piece of audio equipment was designed by Jakob Jensen. This was a very expensive receiver featuring a digital tuner with 9 FM presets while the amplifier was using a dual-mono construction. Under the large digital display there was a large FM tuning wheel, a large electronic 60-step volume control, source control and radio presets. All these functions are remote controlable with the included Beolab Terminal that could also control a cassette deck and the turntable.

Secondary functions are located behind a large brushed aluminium panel that gently opens at the touch of a button. To complement this beautiful and technologically advanced receiver there were available the perfectly matching Beogram 8000 linear tracking turntable and the Beocord 8000 cassette deck while the loudspeakers were the Beovox MS 150. The system built using these components was called Beolab 8000 and it was also available in white finish while the dedicated racks were the SC 80 and SC 80-2. There was available a simplified version of this system in a compact form as the Beocenter 7000 series that can be seen in our collection here. Technical data: Continous power output per channel: 150 W/4 ohm, 100 W/8 ohm, Dimensions 67 W x 15 H x 37 D cm, Weight: 21 kg.

Sansui G-22000 / G-33000 (1978) - Only HiFi, Everything HiFi

hifi receiver

Each Sansui receiver was crafted with meticulous care. The Sansui G-33000 and G-22000 were two from the top of Sansui's "Pure Power Receiver" roster featuring the world's best audio amplifier performance. Both are very powerful, with the only difference between in actual power output, and both are as versatile as any receiver from this era. Circuitry is ultra-advanced with revolutionary Diamond Differential DC (Sansui pat.): this allows power amplifier to achieve low TIM distortion / high slew rate / fast rise time to respond to pulsive, musical signals with superb accuracy. Frequency range also benefits - widened to zero Hz (DC) to 300kHz!

The "Straight DC" design means phono equalizer, flat amp and power amp are all of DC design. Both models also have a unique "separable" two-unit construction, one is the tuner / preamp while the other is the power amp. This allows you to arrange them as you like, side by side, one on top of other or you can join them together back to back for a singular unit. Technical data: Power output 300 W/ch (min. RMS, 8 ohm, no more than 0.009% THD - G-33000) 220 W/ch (min. RMS, 8 ohm, no more than 0.009 THD - G-22000) Dimension: 636 W x 227 H x 553 D mm (G-33000 / G-22000) Weight 45.4 / 42.1 kg (G-33000 / G-22000)

AIWA AD-F990 (1983) - Simply Advanced

cassette deck

The fabulous ADF990 is AIWA's most advanced cassette deck (1983), with features that not only ensure simple, foolproof operation, but also unmatched fidelity. Unquestionably the most suprelative 3-head deck in its class (1983), the AD-F990 offers advanced engineering for superior total performance. The AD-F990 features Amorphous combination head for superior performance and durability. It also features Dolby HX Professional, not a noise reduction, but an entirely new way of processing signals, this sophisticated circuitry functions during all recordings but requires no processing during playback. The DATA (Digital Automatic Tape Adaptation) system is a sophisticated microcomputerized circuit that automatically "tests" each tape prior to recording and adjusts the deck's bias, equalization and sensitivity to optimum levels, in only 16 seconds. A series of automated features are present such as: Auto Noise Reduction Detector, Auto Recording Level Control, Auto Tape-Source Selector (all these are manually selectable as well) Other technological features include a Auto De-magnetizing system, Micro-grain dual capstan transport, all-mode tape remaining time display, fluorescent multi-function display and feather-touch electronic volume control with position indicator.
