Sansui SD-7000 (1973) - Grade Up Your Stereo

Sansui SD-7000

As a result of three years of intensive research and development work and ten prototype models, in 1973 Sansui introduced the SD-7000, the ultimate answer to just what a true high fidelity stereo tape deck should be. A wide dynamic range, wide frequency response range, high signal-to-noise ratio, low distortion and automatic reverse, repeat, rewind and shut-off operations are just af the many outstanding features of the SD-7000. The SD-7000 is a 3-motor, 4-head Auto-Reverse, 4-track 2-channel stereo/mono recorder. Automatic repeat, reverse and rewind operations can be triggered either by fixing strips of sensing foils at the end of a tape or recording the 20Hz reverse signal the deck is equipped with. Unlike other tape recorders where the capstan pulls the tape across the heads and the supply reel provides back tension, the SD-7000 capstan is located before the head assembly and tape tension is provided by the take-up reel. Specifications: Reel size 7" maximum - Tape speed 19cm/s and 9,5cm/s - Heads: Erase, Record, Forward playback, Reverse playback (4-track 2-channel) - Frequency response 15-25,000 Hz @ 19cm/s - S/N ratio Better than 60db - Dimensions: 435 (W) x 535 (H) x 260 (D) mm - Weight: 27 kg.
