YAMAHA M-85 - Ultimate Audio Sophistication (1986)

power amplifier

The M-85 is Yamaha's finest Natural Sound power amplifier, offering massive output power and extreme reproduction purity for the discriminating audiophile. It delivers an astounding 250 watts of power per channel into an 8 ohm load with a mere 0.003% THD. In short, the M-85 offers power to suit any listening requirement. Further, Auto Class A Power and Zero Distortion Rule circuitry make this one of the cleanest sounding amplifiers available. Regardless of the type of music you enjoy - rock, jazz, classical, or anything in between - the M-85 responds with dynamic power on demand, making the most of today's dynamic audio sources. It is capable of driving up to three speaker pairs independently, simultaneously, or in any combination of two. You'll appreciate its heavy-duty speaker connection terminals, wide-range LED peak power level meters, meter display load selector, meter Peak Hold and Range selectors, and full overload protection circuitry. The M-85 is an outstanding achievement in power amplifier design.

YAMAHA AVR-1000 | R-9 - Zero Distortion Rule

yamaha receiver

This a transitional model from when manufacturers started shifting from big powerful stereo receivers to audio/video type of receivers. This one still has plenty of power and was introduced worldwide in 1985 as the all black R-9 while the silver front - wood case AVR-1000 was only available in Japan.

"Uncommon sounds. Sounds that make exceptional demands on your audio system. Because from the crescendo of a massed chorale to the detonation of proton torpedos, the sounds of modern entertainment reward audio high-performance as never before. And nothing performs like Yamaha.
Yamaha's sophisticated new R-9 receiver is designed to make the most of today's home entertainment possibilities. With seven audio and three video hookups, the R-9 can serve as the control panel for your entire home audio/video system. And because it has a separates-quality 125 watt per channel amplifier with Auto Class A Power amplification, it provides tha high power and wide dynamic range that add a whole new dimension to your home entertainment experience.

Now you can hear digital recordings and compact disc reproduced with the full clarity and resonance demanded by serious audiophiles. Experience the high-decibel impact of the sound effects that make your favorite films special. And do it through a receiver so advanced it uses discrete circuitry like that found in Yamaha's finest separate components."

The R-9's AM/FM stereo tuner features digital tuning with a unique 5-digit capability that allows you to fine-tune in increments of 0,01 MHz (FM). This is particularly helpful in obtaining maxinum signal quality when tuning relatively weak stations interfered with by stronger adjacent stations.
Combined with our new Computer Servo Lock Tuning System, it gives you the best of both digital and analog tuning capabilities. The Yamaha R-9 includes a multi-function infrared remote control. And it is just one in a complete line of advanced Yamaha receivers. Now that's entertainment.

PIONEER M-Z1a (1983) - Class A mono power

Class A mono power

The PIONEER M-Z1a Class A mono power amplifier is part of the "Artistic Sound Series" that was only available in Japan from 1983. This is actually the second version of the M-Z1 introduced in 1980. Other components of this series were the C-Z1a pre amplifier, H-Z1 MC head amplifier, S-F1 CUSTOM speaker system, CT-A1 cassette deck, PL-L1 turntable and P-D1 CD player. Three pairs of LAPT devices (2SA1187 / 2SC2838) deliver some hot 60W (8 ohm, 20Hz-20kHz) of power in Class A mode. Two transformers are used in this high-end non-NFB construction using a Super Linear Circuit for the voltage amplifing stage. The power meter uses 20 LED's to display power from 0,001W up to 100W with peak hold capacity for easy reading. Dimensions of a PIONER M-Z1a mono power amplifier are 22(W) x 18,5(H) x 44(D) cm and it's weight is 19,1kg.

TOSHIBA SA-7150 (1978) - World's First Digital Synthesizer Receiver.

World's First Digital Synthesizer Receiver.

You are looking at the world's first receiver with a digital Phased-lock Loop (PLL) frequency sythesizer for both FM and AM. The SA-7150 delivers tuning accuracy that approaches theoretical limits not possible with pointer and tuning meters. This is of enormous importance if music is important to you. Accurate tuning of the precise broadcast frequency means the lowest possible distortion, the greatest possible fidelity and the widest possible dynamic range. Toshiba had the resources and technical expertise to originate as well as manufacture the many ultra-sophisticated parts and circuits such as LSI's in the synthesizer section that assure the purity of the original signal. The SA-7150 is decidedly not your average receiver. But then, Toshiba isn't your average company.

Continuous Power Output:
150 W/channel (min. RMS at 8 ohm, 20-20,000 Hz , no more than 0,05% T.H.D.)
Dimensions (W x H x D):  550 x 200 x 500 mm
Weight:  27 kg
