UHER HiFi Z100 (1978) | Stadium Full of Sound

 

The UHER HiFi Z100 from 1978 allowed you to assemble a stereo system into a visually and technically coordinated functional unit in a space-saving manner. The EG 750 Hi-Fi stereo tuner, VG 850 stereo integrated amplifier with a 2x60W Sinus DIN power rating, and the CG 350 stereo cassette recorder could be inserted into three compartments. Below the device compartments is another compartment where accessories or parts can be stored, such as the W 775 headphones. In the lowest part of the rack, behind a mirrored glass door, there is space for the upright storage of approximately 100 12-inch records. There are also three drawers there for storing 10 compact cassettes each. The black oak decor is coordinated with the equipment. The rack's edges are impact-protected by black, anodized aluminum profiles, giving it an elegant appearance. The finishing profile of the intermediate shelves is also made of black anodized aluminum and completely covers the gap between two pieces of equipment, so that their feet remain invisible.

GRUNDIG 5000 (1980) | High Fidelity

 

The Grundig 5000 series High Fidelity system was introduced in 1980 and it consists of a series of high quality components. Let's start with the tuner. Right at the top. Because it's located right at the top—not just in the picture. Its highly sensitive input sensitivity of 0.5 µV with a dynamic selectivity of more than 60 dB brings in virtually every station with pure, unadulterated enjoyment. The digital frequency display shows you exactly which one, and its microprocessor-controlled quartz synthesizer using PLL technology locks it in with quartz precision. If you like, with its Intermix preset station memory you can store 29 programs as well. Class-A preamplifier. In German hi-fi magazine Audio Test 3/80 it received: "Excellent value for money." No wonder: total harmonic distortion below 0.01%, input for moving-coil cartridges, level switch (allowing you to adjust the loudness to the speaker efficiency and listening room), and a 400 Hz tone generator should be enough to pique your interest. The channel-separated 4-channel tone control network will then really get you going. Cassette deck CF 5500: With two tone generators, the frequency response and level can also be adapted to any non-standard tape formulation. After all, you should be able to fully enjoy the 25 to 18,000 Hz range and the 70 dB dynamic range without loss. Of course, there's more to it than that: the 2-motor drive with quartz-controlled capstan motor, the 3-head monitoring of the recording, and so on, and so on. All Made in Germany.

Aurex Micro 15 (1978)

 

The micro 15 components from Aurex(Toshiba) from 1978 feature a digital quartz synthesizer tuner, double-sided circuit boards, a novel through-hole soldering process, improved copper plating, and a novel capacitor winding. But the most revolutionary aspect is the super-chip technology. This simply means that all the electronic circuits necessary for a high-quality hi-fi system are packed onto the smallest possible circuit boards. This allows the individual components to be built so compactly that they can be installed anywhere. And so powerfully that they deliver their full potential in any location. After all, 100 watts is something that even untrained ears can quickly grasp. Power Amplifier SC-M 15: 2 x 50 W @ 4 Ohm, Distortion: 0,02%, Dimensions 257 x 106 x 211 mm. The Professional Digital Reference System by Fisher was introduced in 1990. There were several models for this system while presented here we can see a Top combination. SABA Sigma Series 450 (1981)

 

According to the 1982 advertisement published by Saba: Anyone who doesn't accept compromises will take the SABA HiFi Sigma 450 Series very seriously, because it brings them the utmost in enjoyment. The integrated amplifier (MI 450) of this system, for example, has a distortion factor of an incredible 0.003%. It's therefore not noticeable at all. The quartz synthesizer tuner (MT 450) demonstrates outstanding selectivity. No neighboring station, no matter how powerful, will interfere unintentionally. The cassette deck (CD 450) delivers absolute precision. And the record player (PSP 450), of course, belongs to a whole new generation. With a tangential tonearm for the greatest possible tracking and sound fidelity. All in all, a quartet that is among the best in the world. 

Today we know that the cassette deck of this system was actually based on the JVC DD-5 with some added functions. The CD 450 (Cassette Deck) features a Quartz Direct Drive motor, motorized recording level control, SA (Sen-Alloy) rec/pb head, and a fabulous fluorescent VU meter and digital counter for top level recordings and playback. While Saba was an old and prestigious German manufacturer by the 80s things have changed. There is no mention of country origin which leads me to believe (judging by the link to JVC and the typical Japanese back panel look) that these were actually "Made in Japan to Saba specifications" (original photo by M. YAMAHA Interior-44 (IS-44) (1976)

Introducing a stereo that pursues simple beauty and easy operability in every aspect. Knobs that are not normally used can be stored in a sealed pocket, and the main switch uses a light push button. Its compact design is the result of careful attention to layout. The player, speakers, and amplifier sections each embody the most advanced essence of Yamaha's established component technology, yet this mechanical presence is subtly encapsulated in a sophisticated off-white finish, transporting sound to private rooms. Features include a sealed pocket for stashing seldom-used connectors, a digital clock with an auto-timer so you can sleep while listening to late-night radio broadcasts, and a charming, bead-like indicator that stands alone in the darkness. The components featured are unique to this system and can be extended with some Yamaha classic components as listed below. There were actually three different system manufactured between 1974-1976. These were the Interior-22/Interior-44/Interior-66 and presented as part of the IS Series from Yamaha.

Fisher Audio/Video Hi-Fi (1986) | Golden Jubilee Series

 

The Golden Jubilee Series was the 50th Anniversary hi-fi stereo system from Fisher, introduced in 1986. All these components were actually designed and built by Sanyo of Japan. The heart of this system is the CA-891 amplifier that featured parametric equalizer, electronic volume control and remote control (REM-891). All the components of the system could be used independently in any system however when used together they could receive remote control signal from the amplifier via remote control cable. The cassette recorder was the CR-W891, a twin auto-reverse model. The tuner was the FM-891 stereo synthesizer tuner with 20 station preset system. For the "Digital and Analog section" there was the AD-890 single disc compact disc player and the MT-890 random access linear tracking turntable. The graphic equalizer was the 2x9 band EQ-876 with spectrum analyzer. For the video section the FVH-P840K Hi-Fi stereo VHS video recorder could be added. Original sale price (without video recorder) was aprox. 6998 DM with rack and speakers.

Optional components are: SRK-500 rack system, AT-500 timer unit, TM-4000 TV audio multiplex tuner, RC-500 remote control system. With some minor differences the system was available worldwide as Kenwood System 500.
