AKAI PA-W09 (1980) | Pulse Locked Power Suply

 

The PA-W09 Stereo Power Amplifier was a unique product in the Akai amplifier range from the early 80s. It was unique in a sense that there was no matching pre-amplifier made for this model. While the "04" and "06" models from this range were presented as pre-amplifier/power amplifier combo, the 09 was mostly shown as an individual component. It was only one Akai brochure from 1981 that suggested the PA-W09 to be used as an upgrade to the visually matching AM-U06 stereo integrated amplifier. The PA-W09 is a dual mono construction with pulse power supply and heat pipe cooling system. The original sale price was approx. 1.750 DM in Germany with the first units delivered starting October 1980.
