The XO-1001 from Sony was a new kind of stereo component. It is a so called "casseiver", a combination of a cassette recorder, radio and amplifier with a twist. The XO-1001 also features a cutting-edge barcode reader pen with the matching barcode programming sheet. This can be used for programming functions such as: recording programming, radio station programming, duration of recording, tape type... While the cassette section does have automatic tape selector some of the cassettes still did not feature the Metal tape detection holes thus the "manual barcode selector" is also included. The cassette recorder features a 2-motor transport, Dolby noise reduction and remaining time indicator tape counter while the amplifier section is rated at 40W/ch.
