The story of THE 4000 series from Akai dates back to 1975 which in turn was an upgraded version of a model introduced in the mid 60s. THE 4000 model range is probably the most recognisable basic open reel deck in history. After countless revisions and upgrades the final version GX-4000D remained in production until the mid 80s. One of this versions was the GX-4000DB shown here that included Dolby noise reduction.
