DENON DR-70 | DRM-700 (1989)

 

The DR-70 introduced in 1989 (DRM-700 for the International market) is equipped with a cassette stabilizer C.C.C.S. (Ceramic Composite Cassette Stabilizer) that prioritizes sound quality and it also uses an amorphous 3-head system. In addition to a thorough vibration-proof structure, silent mechanisms and other features make the sound of the era even more vivid. A wide dynamic range delivers the ultimate in high-quality sound. DENON has pursued a comprehensive approach to mechanical stabilization, essential for achieving high sound quality. In addition to the use of a two-capstan system, cassette stabilizer, and head block, the bottom cover is designed with a low center of gravity and a double structure. Equipped with B/C noise reduction and a high-quality audio circuit with a DC amplifier configuration, it achieves low noise, wide dynamic range, and high-quality sound across the board. The recording and playback heads use a highly transparent semi-alloy amorphous core with no crystalline structure. The coil wire is made of PC-OCC (pre-copper pyrophosphate) wire, and the mutual effect of these wires enhances the high frequency response. In conventional fixed bias recording circuits, there was a weakness in that when the bias voltage was too high, the MOL in the high range decreased, and when the bias voltage was too low, the overall noise increased. When the input signal contains a high level of high-frequency content, the system automatically reduces the bias from the oscillator, maintaining a constant effective bias voltage in the mid- and low-frequency ranges while significantly improving high-frequency response. This revolutionary system reproduces even agile instruments and synths with a clear, expansive, and clear sound. Dual power supply DC amplifier configuration for wide dynamic range. The amplifier section uses DC amplifiers for both the playback and recording amplifiers, dramatically improving power and quality. Direct connection to the head amplifier (no coupling capacitors) eliminates degradation of frequency response in the low frequencies. Furthermore, the powerful dual power supply section supplies high-voltage, highly stable power, increasing the saturation level of the amplifier stage and achieving a wide dynamic range.
