Brand: Aurex
Model: PC-G90AD
Year: 1982

The PC-G90AD was released by Aurex (Toshiba) in 1982. It was the last model to feature Aurex's unique noise reduction system "Address". The tape drive system used a dual capstan system, with a DD motor for the capstan, a DC motor for the reel, and a DC motor for the mechanism. The mechanism was directly fixed to the die-cast front panel. The heads consisted of three heads, a recording and playback combination head. The recording and playback heads were Super AP (High-B hard permalloy) heads, which achieved excellent magnetic properties and wear resistance. In particular, the playback head had twice the number of laminated cores (12 sheets), compared to the previous model, reducing high-frequency loss and improving high-frequency characteristics. The erase head was equipped with a two-gap ferrite head. Furthermore, the PC-G90AD was equipped with a new "Tape Auto Computer System" to improve compatibility with tapes. This system automatically adjusted the optimum bias and recording sensitivity for each tape, achieving flatter frequency characteristics and reducing the variation in recording sensitivity due to the tape.
