High quality, high-performance loudspeaker. Not what you'd first think of if, you mention the name Denon. The SC-2000 presented here was made by Denon in 1984 using a loudspeaker manufactured by "Gauss America". Gauss was an American (U.S.A.) speaker manufacturer founded by former retired JBL employee (Bert Loncansey, Ed May). This is however not the first Denon "Studio Monitor" nor the first cooperation between Gauss and a Japanese manufacturer (more baout this later). Anyway, the model presented here is using a Gauss 3588 coaxial 2-way unit. The woofer section is using a specially treated paper cone with multi-corrugations and a diameter of 38cm. The high frequency unit is a horn-shaped unit with a unique curved horn designed by computer design...with a a 50mm diaphragm. This coaxial unit provided excellent localization , and it also had the characteristics of a monitor speaker.
