First AKAI Cassette Deck (1970) | Invert-O-Matic CS-50

The first cassette recorder was introduced by AKAI in 1970 and it was not simply another cassette recorder. The CS-50 was the Worlds First Reverse Recording and Playback model. With an ingenious mechanism the CS-50 will extract the cassette from the mechanism, flip-it-over and reinsert the cassette for both-side recording and playback. This system was called by AKAI the Invert-O-Matic. This slot loading model from AKAI offers a frequency response of 30 to 16,000Hz with a wow&flutter of 0.2% RMS. The size of the unit is 375x160x287mm (WxHxD) and it has a weight of 7.84kg. The CS-50 model has an incorporated amplifier with 16 watts of music power. The CS-50D was a deck only model reccommended to be used with the AA-6300 amplifier and SW-125 loudspeakers from AKAI.
