The TCD 440 A from Tandberg is a Top-class HiFi cassette recorder with discrete recording and playback heads. It features Tandberg's unique DYNEQ dynamic recording equalization and ACTILINEAR recording system for better signal processing with special consideration of Metal tapes. Bias level for the various types of tape can be adjusted from the front panel. The mechanism is features 3 motors, Double capstan drive, Fully electronic control of all functions via digital logic circuits. Integrated there is a precision azimuth adjustment of the recording head by integrated test generator, readable via measuring instrument. Other features include: Servo-controlled fast winding with 40-sec rewind time for C-60 cassette. Automatic end and safety shutdown for all drive functions. 4 separate Dolby units for recording and playback. Large frequency-corrected peak value display instruments for recording and playback. FM Dolby switch. 19/38 kHz multiplex switch (MPX switch); self-adapting input amplifier (according to Lia) for full dynamic range for all program sources. Input level can be set separately for each channel. Output level can be adjusted.  Headphone connection on the front panel. Mixing option for mono recordings. Vertical and horizontal operation but also wall mounting is possible. Available with silver or black anodized front panel. Wireless remote control of all drive functions using infrared technology.
