The SE-M100 was introduced by Technics in 1988. While the "SE" in the model name suggests a Power Amplifier the SE-M100 is actually a new concept that was called Digital Straight Amplifier. This means that the amplifier features a series of Digital inputs, it is equipped with a 4-DAC Linear 20 bit converter and it has a volume control. This means that all your Digital sources can be connected directly to this power/straight amplifier, a concept called by Technics Digital Direct Drive. If you wanted to expand the number of inputs with analog sources one could use the SH-S100 remote controlled Audio Video Selector in which case the SE-M100 will act as a Power Amplifier, a dual mono construction power amplifier.
