revox 2017

After the vinyl revival it was time for the best possible analog source to officially return. The analog tape recorder (reel to reel) as invented in 1935 by AEG / TELEFUNKEN become an industry standard for studios for decades. Many people still believe that analog tape recording is the best possible way to record music. Since there are companies reissuing "studio master" recordings of original material on tape there was a need for a new tape recorder as well....."to compete with old tape recorders kept alive by many enthusiast"

So here is the news officially isuued by REVOX and HORCH HOUSE on 04.05.2017

REVOX Group and HORCH HOUSE (a division of Lutz Precision k.s.) are pleased to announce further cooperation in analog audio technology. The first results of our relationship have already come with the REVOX online shop (www.revox.ch) carrying the full selection of HORCH HOUSE analog master tape copies. Due to the overwhelming response from the analog audio world we are happy to confirm our next step forward. Our next product will be the first new reel to reel machine design in decades. This exciting new player will be under the venerable REVOX name and will be available as a standard product in Q1 of 2017. This truly is a wonderful time for fans of analog audio and the starting point for a whole new product line.

Tape archiving

During the golden age of tape recording manufacturers offered various methods to archive your tape in a well organised manner. Plastic boxes offer superior protection for your tape. These systems allow the boxes to be clicked together forming an elegant and practical system. It was a solution for the home recording enthusiast so these systems were made for the 13, 15 and 18 cm reels. Here are some examples from the late 60's and early 70's from manufacturers like AGFA, BASF, SONY and TELEFUNKEN (the inventor of the tape recorder)
