To hear music reproduced accurately on cassette in your home is one pleasure serious listeners have always been denied until the introduction of the Beocord 9000 in 1982. With the Bang & Olufsen Beocord 9000 you can faithfully reproduce the wide dynamic range of a live performance. So much that it's impossible to pick the difference between the record and recording. The Beodord 9000 incorporates a unique Computer Controlled Calibration system, the Bang & Olufsen HX Professional Recording System and single touch operation. The Beocord 9000 calibrates to any cassette before recording in just nine seconds. Bang & Olufsen have developed a Computer Controlled Calibration system which optimises the performance of any tape. Simply insert any tape and the Beocord 9000 proceeds to set the appropiate bias, sensitivity and equalisation. The specifications for types of tape you use frequently can beplaced in the memory and recalled instantly making future calibration unnecessary. And that's not all, in the calibration process the Beocord 9000 also measures distortion and sets its record level meters according to the characteristics of the particular tape you are using, assuring you of a recording free of audible distortion.
The Beocord is one of the first cassette decks in the world to incorporate HX Professional. Not since the invention of Dolby NR has such a significant inprovement in cassette performance taken place. Even Dolby Laboratories agreed. Overall dynamic range is increased by up to 10dB. Definition of bass frequencies is audibly superior. Frequency response with any tape is +/-1.5dB from 20 to 20000Hz with a S/N ratio up to 80dB with Dolby C NR!. The Beocord 9000 provides an electronically accurate real-time index to all tape locations regardless of type or lenght. To calibrate any cassette to a real-time index, simply press the GO button on the control panel. The most important part of the system is the micro-computer. The micro-computer carries out all calculations and controls the minute and second readings on the display. The computer program contains 3 tables, one for tape thickness compiled on the basis of practical experience. (Large number of cassettes on the market have been carefully measured at the Bang & Olufsen laboratory to ensure accurate time indication). If that's not enough, the Beocord 9000 is furnished with a specially recorded test tape which permits you to verify the accuracy of the tape head's azimuth adjustment. The fabulous design belongs to Jakob Jensen.
