Lo-D (a Hitachi brand name for the Japanese market) introduced in 1979 the "jewel" mini component systems having only 182mm in height. The system presented here was the largest of the series and it was known as "jewel 50". The core of this system consisted of the HCC-50 tuner preamplifier partnered by two mono(!!!) power amplifiers (47W/ch 8ohm) - the HMA-50, driving a pair of 2-way loudspeakers - the HS-50. As an add-on component the matching Metal tape capable D-5M stereo cassette deck could be added at a later date. The HT-464 was the recommended turntable for this system while the LA-50M was a dedicated stand for all components.
