Sansui EIGHT (1970)

Sansui EIGHT receiver

The Sansui EIGHT represents a totally new concept (...in 1970) in the making of quality stereo receivers. A concept that once again moves Sansui into the forefront in bold, imaginative audio engineering. Until now (...then), more accomplished stereo enthusiasts, if they wanted a professional system, had to choose between a conventional high performance receiver or a control amplifier and a separate tuner in order to attain an acceptable level of versatility and performance. But now (...in 1970), in the EIGHT, Sansui unites the outstanding audio characteristics of these different type components for the first time, and inaugurates a new age of stereophonic convenience and pleasure. This  powerful 200 watt precision-built receiver offers a lavish 10 to 40,000Hz power bandwidth, limits Intermodulation Distortion in its Power Amplifier Section to a mere 0.4%, and Total Harmonic Distortion to an even more insignificant 0.3%. Its separately usable preamplifier section has a frequency response of 10 to 40,000Hz. As for versatility, the EIGHT is able to handle ne fewer than three sets of speaker systems and two tape decks. All things considered, the Sansui EIGHT is one of the most auspicious audio achievements in years, and another fine example of the nice things that happen when Sansui bids its engineers to go creative.
